Meet Paul L. Davis

Paul L. Davis is an East Coast-based photographer in the U.S.A, who specializes in travel and street photography. Paul enjoys experiencing other cultures first-hand and seizes any opportunity to photograph iconic cities during his travels. He developed a keen eye for graphic design and composition early on, and incorporates these principles into his approach to photography.

“Visiting new locations allows me to dive right in with fresh eyes. When I hit the town, I find inspiration all around me in the details. I like to approach photo shoots with an open mind and clear intentions, patiently allowing the location to reveal itself. I especially like abstract and classical architectural forms, the blending of modern and traditional. For me, photographs possess a magical ability to capture fleeting moments – not just visually, but the visceral feelings behind them.”

Paul experiments broadly with different photographic genres and techniques and considers himself somewhat of a “Swiss Army Knife” photographer. He believes that pre-planning only takes you so far, so it’s important to allow the location to dictate the tempo. Paul adds that being fully present in the situation helps you see things that might otherwise go unnoticed.

“The world around us holds many wonders, you just need to be open to them and observant. For me, it’s always been about creative vision – the subject is secondary. Photography is similar to golf in that there are many skills that require diligent practice to obtain proficiency. I really enjoy trying out new concepts and the challenge of always striving to improve upon my technique.”
