Walking the Streets of Berlin
Berlin contains many interesting and historical landmarks worth exploring. No trip would be complete without visiting areas like Mitte (city center), Kreuzberg (known for its alternative culture), and Prenzlauer Berg (trendy residential area). Some key landmarks include the Brandenburg Gate, the Berlin Wall Memorial, Checkpoint Charlie, Museum Island, Alexanderplatz, the East Side Gallery (a section of the former Berlin Wall), the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, and the refurbished Reichstag building, whose glass dome represents transparency in government. For almost three decades during the Cold War, the 18th-century Brandenburg Gate, obstructed by the Berlin Wall, served as the marker of the city’s division. Today, it attracts visitors from all around the world.
