Berlin Architecture
Berlin’s architecture is well-known for its diversity, which reflects the city’s rich history and its role as a center of political and architectural movements. You will find an eclectic mix of Expressionism – characterized by elegant lines and gothic brickwork – constrasted by Berlin Style Neotraditional developed after the fall of the Berlin Wall, influenced by Schinkel, Gründerzeit, Art Deco, and early 20th century Modernism. Berlin has many notable buildings, including the Fernsehturm (TV tower), the Rotes Rathaus (City Hall), and the Neptunbrunnen fountain. It’s architecture also includes medieval monasteries and Prussian palaces, and the city’s brickwork tells a story of its history and its role as a battleground for political ideologies.
